Not really, the people of the South are better off for being in the US than if the Confederacy had been allowed to continue. Though it likely would have dissolved, since those were the states willing to leave their country. Alaska doesn’t want to leave, just a few people (like Mr. Palin). Bye, then.

The south was better off if lincoln pulled all federal troops out that would have saved hundreds of thousands of lives but he didn’t. If Alaska wants to leave let them go i’d be glad for them. But anyways i’m done with this conversation nice chatting.

The current governor of that state was yelling about seceding. Reconstruction was needed after the South’s economy and infrastructure collapsed. You can’t deny facts just because you don’t like them.

The constant call for the balancing of slave states with free states shows the kind of issue slavery was. Yes, Lincoln said that if he could preserve the Union without freeing a single slave, he would, but he was a man of anti-slavery morals, and slavery was a major issue to many. As I said, “The South seceded on the premise of states’ rights.” Slavery was not on its way out anyway, as that would’ve (and did) devastate the South’s economy. Thank God the non-slavery side wrote the history books.
