Roland C-190 Classical Pipe Organ Portable Keyboard Demonstration
This is a quick demonstration of the very innovative keyboard that Roland manufactured a limited quantity of in 2005 for the small niche market of organists that need a high quality portable digital pipe organ. The C190 is a portable organ with simulated two manual functionality designed for religious congregations, weddings, and all other occasions that call for high-quality organ or orchestral music in a portable instrument. Simultaneous use of organ and orchestral sounds: The C-190 comes with the finest organ sounds from the Rodgers Pipe Organ division of Roland. On top of that, it also features excellent instrument sounds that can be used alongside the organ section. You can “split” the 76-note keyboard into two sections (divisions) and play the C-190 like a two-manual organ. BASS AND MANUAL PARTS: Though a single keyboard instrument, the C-190 allows you to play monophonic bass organ parts and polyphonic instrument sounds. Because of an intelligent bass recognition feature, the pedal part plays a monophonic bass line that doubles the lowest note you play on the keyboard. You can, however, connect an optional MIDI pedal unit to the C-190 and play the pedal section polyphonically using your feet. You can also record your performances with the built-in recorder or connect the audio output to any audio recording device for maximum sound quality. There are four preset stop configurations: Classic, Romantic, Baroque, and Solo STOP LIST: PEDAL: Subbass 16′, Principal Bass …

March 18, 2010 @ 1:46 pmBritt, what do you think about the Roland KC-150 amplifier to work in conjunction with the C-190 and do you feel a sub woofer would be necessary?

March 18, 2010 @ 2:41 pmI actually just connected the outputs of the C-190 directly to the Roland Edirol R-09HR Digital Recorder to capture the sound and used headphones on my head so I could hear the best sound.

March 18, 2010 @ 2:48 pmBritt, what brand and size amplifier did you use when creating this video?
brittmusic
March 18, 2010 @ 2:58 pmIt’s OK for home personal use, but it would definitely benefit by having an amp added to it, mostly to give it more bass.

March 18, 2010 @ 3:17 pmBritt, in your opinion, is an external amp or additional sound devices necessary to attain an acceptable volume level, or is it awesome all by it self.

March 18, 2010 @ 4:16 pmThis was an awesome demonstration, any idea where I can purchase a C-190?

March 18, 2010 @ 4:58 pmLOL! Yes, that’s KyKy-O. She has to make an appearance in every video I record. Sometimes I remember to put her in a room and close the door, sometimes she ends up on the cutting room floor, other times she has to make her appearance. She says “I am a national star. I have to be seen all over the world!”

March 18, 2010 @ 5:13 pmThe Gemshorn is just a preset sound. I guess it was matched with Celest, I am not sure though. I don’t have this instrument anymore. And yes, thank you for acknowledging the effort. It was a lot.

March 18, 2010 @ 5:19 pmIs the Gemshorn matched with a Celest? Thanks. Alot of effort was clearly put in in this vid

March 18, 2010 @ 6:12 pmThe C-230 just hit the market. I’ve not gotten to play it, but I watched the videos on Roland and Rodgers websites, and it looks awesome! The C190 was discontinued in 2005, there weren’t very many sold her in the U.S., so I think you’d have a hard time even finding a used one. The C-190 split function is alright, it’s a bit reversed for what I’d like.

March 18, 2010 @ 6:31 pmThanks for this video. If you don’t mind my asking, have you also tried the newer C-230? I’m going to buy a digital positive single-manual ‘pipe’ organ and am thinking of either the C-190 which I believe is still available, the C-230, or the Viscount Cantorum VI. Any suggestions? And how useful do you think the manual-splitting function really is on the C-190? Thanks Brit!

March 18, 2010 @ 6:58 pmIt’s by Bach, I don’t remember the name of it though, i don’t think it was written as a flute piece, but i think it is often played by a flautist

March 18, 2010 @ 7:06 pmwhat is the name of the song that you played with the flute sound

March 18, 2010 @ 8:53 pmI’d disagree. It’s the same sound sample. I hooked it up to my Roland KC550 speakers, they are 180 watts each, and it is absolutely killer!

March 18, 2010 @ 9:13 pmThe organ voices are not as spectacular as a real larger digital organ. But for being a keyboard its pretty amaizing. I also love the orchestral voices. Typical awesome sounds from roland!
