How to use text and caller ringtones on Blackberry Pearl 8120?

Ok, so I just got a Blackberry Pearl 8120 for free (I qualified for it). It’s a great phone but SOOOO different from my old piece of crap phone (a samsung flip). It’s with T-mobile. Except I have NO idea how to use the damn thing!
For starters when I plug the cord in from the phone to the usb on my computer, nothing happens. It doesn’t register. Second, I haven’t been able to download the Blackberry software (via the cd it came with OR online).

But for right now, I’m just trying to figure out how to apply ringtones to texts and calls? I figured out the main caller ringtone. But I want individual ones (for different people). I found where to do it but it doesn’t let me use ones I’ve recorded off of Voice Memo’s. Does anyone know how to do that?

I also want to know, how do I set a tone to my text messaging (like a song or something)? I looked ALL around in options, read the manual, and have asked others and still can’t figure it out. I know it can be done cuz I’ve heard it on my friend’s blackberry pearl.
